Gardiner
Welcome to Gardiner, Montana where snowcapped mountains, lush green valleys, abundant wildlife, quaint storefronts, and friendly locals are just the beginning of your adventure into the only four-season gateway to Yellowstone National Park and the heart of the beautiful Rocky Mountains!
Established in 1880, our quaint western town of Gardiner emerged from the need to provide services and activities for visitors to Yellowstone. The historic Roosevelt Arch is located here and was dedicated by President Theodore Roosevelt on April 24, 1903. The road from Gardiner to Silver Gate and Cook City, MT travels through Yellowstone's famous Lamar Valley and is accessible with a personal vehicle all year long.
Gardiner is located in the heart of Yellowstone's Northern Range at the junction of the Gardner and Yellowstone Rivers. We are surrounded by the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness to the north, the Gallatin Wilderness to the west, and the world's first and most famous national park, Yellowstone National Park to the south. This area is home to the most diverse herds of large wildlife species in the lower 48 states including bison, bighorn sheep, elk, pronghorn, grizzly bears, black bears, wolves, and deer.
